| Internet turf war: "Russian" extremists are coming to attack the LJ |

After the AT suspended a dozen or so "Russian" users for the provocative, deliberate anti-American smear campaign (with some anti-NATO flavor), it happened they touched a couple of the Russian "untouchables" - the ringleaders of both - the anti-social leftist and at the same time the new generation pro-nazi mobs.
The campaign fabricated its "official poster", that was posted by all the participants.
The poster was a remake of a famous WW2 anti-nazi Russian poster that depicted a village in flames on the background, a dead Russian woman on the road, and a baby standing by in the night gown and sheepishly begging - "Daddy, kill a German". "German" in the war time ment - "a nazi soldier".
The extremists changed baby's words, though, as: "Daddy, kill a NATO soldier".
They even created a community and are playing with the poster:

Besides the poster, some of them wrote slogans: "Squash America as a piece of shit" and alike.
The leaders did not hide their intentions: they wrote, that the goal was to make a deliberate provocation to test the LJ AT tolerance, and instigated their followers to copy the poster to their journals. One of the leaders wrote: "the goal of the campaign is to prepare the Russian society to upcoming war with the US, to avoid the Stalin's 1941 mistake, when the nazi Germany was an official ally of the USSR".
The whole campaign is a part of the anti-American hysteria that is government supported and instigated in the Russian media.
After the AT suspensions in June, that they didn't expect, cause they posted their stuff back in March, they choose the following tactic:
- initially they just fooled the AT to prolong the time, asked stupid questions and make a lot of noise in blogs and marginal media about the "American Freedom of Speech" that doesn't exist.
- then they lied and played around the "complexity of the mystical Russian language" that a foreigner can't possibly understand and appreciate, one lied that he wrote not "kill a NATO soldier", but "kill the NATO", that is an "innocent political statement covered by the US Bill of Rights"
- then they planned to instigate an "exodus" of 200,000 Russian users from the LJ. After they realized, that they can't (there is no viable alternative to LJ in Russia due to both the state censorship, and the lack of the infrastructure) they are planning to blackmail the LJ management with a law suit
- they are instigating another campaign now, sort of a mafia-like internet space turf war:
1. to overflow the AT/LJ management email boxes with gazillions of capricious complaints
2. to start a smear campaign against the LJ in the US extreme leftist AND rightist blogworld AND the media (with some luck)
3. they are planning to lie media about the nonexistent "exodus of the Russians from the LJ", "Russian ethnic discrimination", etc.
4. the goal here is to either eventually gain the mafia type control over the LJ AT for the "Russian LJ Sector" or to abolish de facto any form of such a control in the future, by making it too "expensive" for the LJ.

Summary:
- I think that AT was absolutely correct and within the limits of the TOS, the law and common sense, when demanded the removal of the vehemently anti-American posters
- LJ management has to get ready to an email "complaint attack"
- LJ lawyers and management have to expect and to deal with a media smear campaign full of lies and distortions, plus some baseless legal threats

| On Abuse Team, or Facing the Era of Total Alienation |

The folowing is my translation of the text written by a rabbi Avrom Shmulevich (avrom), a leader of the "Be'ad Artzeinu" movement. He is a traditionalist Jew, to whom I hold a great respect. Avrom lives and works in Israel, but he is of russian origin and his LJ is written mostly in russian. I would like to emphasize that he did not participate in "anti-NATO" flashmob and does not support it - on the contrary, he shamed the participants for using a poster and symbol of the Great Patriotic War, which carried away around 30 millions of russian lives, in such a low and cheap "action".
Yet in the actions of Abuse Team he saw the reflection of certain processes which take place in our society, gradually transforming it into something very different. Some people just don't want to notice these changes, some do. And some are worried abouth what they see. Therefore Avrom wrote the folowing text which I personally translated on english (blame me for any mistakes), as a message to those of you who give a damn.

The recent case with Abuse Team is just a plain demonstration of the processes, which are running in the society around us, as well as inside us. We stand in this river for a long time now. And all of it has nothing to do with “American idiots” – it’s happening everywhere, and no one can run away from it, just like we cannot run away from atmosphere.
